An Interview with Scott Lewis

1. The band recently just announced the Hell Chose Me 15 Year Anniversary tour. What are some of your favorite tours and memories from the original album cycle?

In 2010 (the year the album came out) we did some fantastic touring. Summer Slaughter with Decapitated, All Shall Perish, The Red Chord & Animals As Leaders.  We also opened the Powerless Rise tour with As I Lay Dying, All That Remains & Unearth, along with supporting The Black Dahlia Murder in Europe.

2. Speaking of the tour, the lineup is absolutely stacked (Suffocation/Devourment/Distant/Bodybox/Monochromatic Black). Was it a conscious effort to offer up such a diverse lineup or did it come together naturally?

Definitely a conscious effort. The tour we did last fall with Cryptopsy went so well we wanted to continue the theme of teaming up with a mix of Death Metal & Deathcore bands. I think we ended up at the perfect of the two genres.

3. We had a blast putting together the merch to celebrate 'Hell Chose Me.' What are your favorite items from the new drop and upcoming tour?

Personal favorite is the "Sauron" shirt and the 'Hell Chose Me' album art shirt. Those two looks awesome, the white Names Mean Nothing tee is also pretty cool.

4. Do you have any updates regarding the new album?
We have been writing this year and have a few new songs written. We haven’t locked down the studio time yet but likely towards the end of the year.

5. Death Dreamer - The Complete Volume recently came out and the second book is just as great as the first.   Tell us a bit about the process of writing the second book.  Also, what actor would you cast if Troy Graves (lead character) shows up in a mini series/movie?

The writing process was pretty enjoyable. The first book did a lot of the story set up and the second book I was able to pay off those set ups and get into some more action/horror sequences which was fun. The illustration team on the book was great to work with and they all did outstanding work. Anton Yelchin was an actor I envisioned playing Troy early on. Unfortunately he since passed away but I still see him as the character in my mind.
